Just past seven, Brett reluctantly got up from the couch and headed into the kitchen to check on dinner.

Pulling the chicken and potatoes out of the oven, he set them on the counter to rest while he focused on setting the table.

Sitting the vase of wildflowers he had picked on his way home from dropping her off at work that morning in the center of the table, he added some of the same tea light candles from the living room. He then plated the chicken and potatoes and poured them each a glass of sparkling apple juice.

As he put the finishing touches on their meal he called out to Serena. "Dinner's ready!"

Serena's eyes widened as she took in the meal Brett had lovingly prepared. "You did all of this for me?" She asked, a hint of awe and emotion in her voice.

Brett nodded as he pulled the chair out for her. "I just wanted to do something special for you."

As they sat down at the table she couldn't help but smile as she felt so lucky to have someone like Brett who put so much effort into making her happy and to make her feel loved.

Taking a bite of the chicken, Serena closed her eyes and savored the flavor of the delicious meal that her amazing boyfriend had poured his heart and soul into preparing. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, and the potatoes were also cooked to perfection. "This is delicious, Brett, you really outdid yourself," she said, smiling at him.

He beamed with pride as they continued enjoying the meal and talking about their day. After they finished the main course, Brett stood up from the table and walked over to the refrigerator before returning with a chocolate cake. As he sat it on the table, she saw he had decorated it with chocolate hearts he had made along with buttercream frosting roses complete with little green icing leaves.

Serena was speechless. In the three months they had been together, she had never seen Brett bake before, let alone make and decorate a cake, but he had clearly put a lot of thought and effort into it. The frosting was silky and smooth, the flowers were perfectly formed, and the hearts were delicate and intricate.

"You made this all by yourself?" she asked him, impressed with his skills, the flowers looked better than anything she could have made.

"Yep, it was just me and my buddy YouTube," he said, gesturing to his phone that was on the counter charging.

"Well I'm impressed," she said, admiring the beautiful cake. "If being a musician doesn't work out, you definitely have a career in cake decorating. It's almost too beautiful to eat."

"Thanks babe," he said, blushing. "I wanted it to be perfect for you."

"I love it," she said, getting up from her chair and walking over to him to kiss him. "Let me go grab my phone, so I can take a picture to send to Dawson."

She went to their bedroom and took her phone off the nightstand where it was charging before returning to the kitchen.
